Pre-Congress Workshops

Workshop A

09:00 AM - 1:00 PM FPSO Fundamentals: An A-Z Look at FPSOs for Marginal Field Development

Duncan Peace, Managing Director, CRONDALL ENERGY
FPSOs remain the most cost-effective solution for most marginal field developments in environments such as the North Sea and West of Shetland. This workshop is designed for oil companies, investors and field stakeholders new to the FPSO space looking to gain a comprehensive overview of essential commercial and technical considerations when opting for an FPSO development.

Particularly given the evolution of contracting, partnership and project execution over the past few years, it will provide a timely update to the workings of the industry and how best to pursue an FPSO project in the current market climate.

  • Context and major stakeholders in the current market climate
  • Financing and contract models
  • Regulatory compliance and HSSEQ considerations
  • FPSO 101: Design overview: hull, topsides, mooring systems
  • Execution: new build vs conversion with a special focus on redeployment
  • Concept design, basic design, FEED, procurement models and execution

Who is this workshop for?
  • CXOs and Project Managers from oil companies
  • Offshore Financiers and Investors
  • Regulatory and Government representatives
  • Equipment Providers

Workshop B

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM FPSO Redeployment Masterclass: Delivering A Robust and Cost-Effective FPSO Redeployment

Redeployment has become arguably the most viable option for an FPSO project in the current market climate, offering significantly lower costs, shorter project schedule and quicker time to production than a conversion or new build.

That said, relocating an operational vessel must be approached with a careful commercial and technical eye. This workshop will examine the potential pitfalls and opportunities to successful FPSO redeployment and how to develop a strategy that can deliver an economically sound field development with a redeployed FPSO.

Commercial Considerations, including:
  • Evaluating the bankability and contractual terms of an FPSO redeployment and calculating residual value
  • Balancing oil companies’ and FPSO contractors’ expectations to develop a win-win plan for the field development
  • Understanding the regulatory compliance requirements of the new operating area

Technical Considerations, including:
  • Assessing vessel condition: maintenance, refurbishment and life extension works needed
  • Ensuring technical compatibility: do the hull, mooring system and topsides align with the reservoir requirements of the new field?

Who is this workshop for?
  • Commercial VPs and GMs from vessel contractors
  • FPSO Project Managers
  • Business Development Managers
  • Commercial Managers
  • FPSO Contract Managers
